B12 is a vitamin that comes in both pill form and in injection form and is used in a variety of capacities. One of the more recent uses is as an injection to aid with weight loss. The idea is that Vitamin B will enhance the speed of the metabolism and give you an extra boost of energy to assist with the exercise and willpower to lose weight.

Vitamins are generally split between water soluble and fat soluble, with B12 falling into the first category. It is only found from animal sources such as dairy and meat, but is not made by the human body. Generally, only truly strict vegetarians are at risk of not getting a dietary regimen of the vitamin. An indication that you may be urinating excess B12 is the darkening of the urine. Additionally, there is no withdrawal symptoms. You may take the shots on your own schedule. The effect that the B12 shot will have on the body is highly dependent upon your personal pre-existing conditions. Because there are always risks associated with any diet, consulting with your doctor prior to beginning a vitamin B12 regimen is recommended.

A vitamin B12 regimen is intended as an aid for losing weight, not a complete solution. The effects of increased energy, metabolism, and combatting common diet problems such as depression and fatigue make it well worth discussing with your health care provider to see if it can be an effective and safe route to take to your weight goals.
